Overview
The Nar and Phu valleys are newly opened treks above the tree line in the Upper Mustang Region. It takes 5 hrs to reach the pass that links Nar with Manang and three other Bhotia villages in the lower Nyeshang valley. In terms of distance both Nar and the neighboring village of Phu is only a day’s walk from Chame situated on the eastern side of the Annapurna Circuit. However both the places remain remote and relatively undeveloped. The trek offers a combination of high peaks and mountain passes, glaciers, remote villages, narrow canyons, lovely forests, amazing rock formation, monasteries and unique Himalayan culture. Closed to trekkers until late 2002, very few westerners have explored these virtually untouched areas or climbed many of the 7000m peaks surrounding it. Nar phu valley trekking is probably the best trek of Annapurna region. Nar-Phu is situated in the high remote region towards the east of Mustang, adjoining Tibet. The trek takes you to the heart of Nar-Phu. The region is wild and largely uninhabited.
